FAQ’s

Do you recommend any safety tips?

Answer: Know your health and consult with a medical professional before you participate in strenuous activity. Plan ahead for your run. Water fountains or sources of water may not be available along your route so please come prepared. Follow general guidelines on good hydration and nutrition, bring your choice of salty snack. Know your course. If it’s easier, you can create a small course and run it several times.

Notify someone when you start your run and again when you are done. Let them know where you are running.

Carry a cell phone and tracking device.

Bring ID in case of emergency

Please be aware of poor surroundings and use crosswalks when crossing roads and look both ways. Obey normal traffic laws

If listening to music, only use one earbud and leave your other ear open to listen for hazards.

Check the weather in advance for the time you are planning to run.

Wear bright and reflective clothing. Avoid running in the dark, unless well-lit. 

Call 911 with any emergency right away.

Use common sense and listen to your body – Don’t overdo!

Is there a waiver that I need to sign?

Yes, when you register, you will be asked to acknowledge that you read and agree to our waiver.

Is there a minimum age to register?

Answer: Yes, you must be 18 years old to register, however if you are under the age of 18, you can get an adult to register for you and the adult must sign the waiver.

Is there a fee to register?

Answer: When you click the “Register” button, you will see the two registration options: free and paid. The main difference is receiving a medal, but both have great benefits!

Can I order more than one medal?

Answer: Yes, each registration includes one medal. You may select the quantity of registrations at checkout, however each adult should register separately so that you can individually report results and identify your hero.

Do you sell t-shirts?

Answer: We will be offering t-shirts soon so stay tuned!

Can I participate in more than one run?

Answer: Yes, each run is a separate registration and you may participate in as many as you’d like! We are considering a point system with rewards. Please send us your feedback if interested.

Can I select my own charity or add one to your list?

Answer: Yes! Please email us with your suggestions. If your charity is not listed yet, recommend you make a direct donation and let us know. Thanks!

What is Strava and how do I use it?

Answer: Go to strava.com and sign up for a free account. (You can skip the free trial.) Join the Prehab Running Club so that we can see your results.

Is there an alternative if I don’t want to use Strava?

Answer:  Yes. You can use any map app like Google Maps to track distance or a smart watch with GPS works just fine.  Use our results page to enter your time.

I would like to organize a run for my company in honor of a particular hero and charity? Do you work with organizations?

Answer: Yes, we can arrange running challenges and contests across company departments/teams. Please email us.

When can I expect to receive my medal?

Answer: Medals should arrive toward the end of the month. You will receive an email when they are shipped.

Can I register for someone else?

Answer: We ask that each person register separately, however an adult can register on behalf of a minor.

Are there any refunds?

Answer: No.

Can I use my treadmill?

Answer: Yes

Who are heroes?

Heroes can be teachers, firefighters, those who have served or are serving in the military, social workers, an athlete, a public servant, a parent or sibling, a loved one who has passed away…anyone or any group that has inspired you in your life’s journey.

Who organizes RunForMyHero events?

All events are organized by Prehab.
Prehab works with all levels of runners from professionals to beginners. They collaborate with USATF and many others in the running community to help runners optimize performance and prevent injury. Prehab’s signature program includes virtual gait analysis to help runners overcome challenges and enjoy the sport to the fullest.
